Please note that these positions are UNFUNDED at this time, as the company is in YEAR 0 of Operations. The successful candidates will be instrumental in assisting the company in moving forward with their Operations plan and reaching full funding for Year 1 and beyond.

General Manager

The General Manager is responsible for the daily operations of the Business. This includes interactions with vendors (legal, insurance, accounting, and HR) and office management, as well as supervising the Production team, the Community Management team, and the Customer Service team. The GM reports directly to and works closely with the President of the company and is responsible for implementing the long-term plans developed with the President.

The following experience, education, and attributes highlight our ideal candidate. However, we are flexible in select areas:

  • Bachelor's degree or better in business administration with an emphasis on the software industry, ideally the games industry. Relevant experience may be substituted for a higher level degree.
  • Experience with online or mobile games, either as a developer or player.
  • Exceptional communication and relationship building skills with an ability to prioritize and multi-task.
  • Supervisory (multiple direct reports) experience.
  • Experience with budget development and management.
Director of Art

The Director of Art is responsible for the management of the Art team and appropriate scheduling for delivery of art assets. The Director of Art works with the Directors of Engineering and Writing, the Art team, and the Lead Designers for the projects under implementation.

The following experience, education, and attributes highlight our ideal candidate. However, we are flexible in select areas:

  • Bachelor's degree or better in fine arts with an emphasis on game development. Relevant experience may be substituted for a higher level degree.
  • Experience with online or mobile games, either as a developer or player.
  • Exceptional communication and relationship building skills with an ability to prioritize and multi-task.
  • Supervisory (multiple direct reports) experience.
  • Experience providing deliverables on a tight schedule.
  • Experience with industry-standard software.
  • Advanced experience in digital art, 3D modeling, and animation, with an emphasis in one or more.
Software Developer

Software developers are responsible for the implementation of game mechanics, UI, servers and systems under the direction of the Principal Architect and the Director of Engineering in collaboration with the Lead Designer for the projects under implementation. Software developers will need to be able to work closely with the creative teams and QA departments.

The following experience, education, and attributes highlight our ideal candidate. However, we are flexible in select areas:

  • Bachelor's degree or better in software development with a preferred emphasis on game development. Relevant experience may be substituted for a degree.
  • Experience with online or mobile games, either as a developer or player.
  • Exceptional communication and relationship building skills with an ability to prioritize and multi-task.
  • Experience providing deliverables on a tight schedule.
  • Experience with industry-standard software.
  • Experience with one or more of UI, scalable systems, functional programming, mobile platforms, or 3D game engines.

Web Developer

The web developer is responsible for the implementation and maintenance of the company website under the direction of the General Manager. The web developers will need to be able to work closely with the creative teams.

The following experience, education, and attributes highlight our ideal candidate. However, we are flexible in select areas:

  • College degree or equivalent experience in web development.
  • Experience with online or mobile games, either as a developer or player.
  • Exceptional communication and relationship building skills with an ability to prioritize and multi-task.
  • Experience providing deliverables on a tight schedule.
  • Experience with industry-standard software.
  • Experience with CSS, Javascript, one or more varieties of forum software or content management systems, and one or more varieties of Wiki.

We're currently willing to work on a distributed basis, as long as certain communication requirements are met, as the company is still moving forward with our "Year 0" plans. These positions are unfunded, sweat-equity positions, backed by an Intent to Hire signed between you and Ætheric Worlds. You will need to maintain a "day job" that pays your bills while you work part time with us until such time as the company is fully funded and we can proceed with properly on-boarding everyone. At that time, you will have the option of exercising or declining your Intent to Hire agreement, which will include a discussion about relocation to the Lynnwood, WA area or continued work as a detached employee.
